Donaghey and Bryan special train at Leslie, Searcy County, Arkansas, "Quartette." Group of men posed on speaker's platform of railroad car with Bryan (center) and Donaghey (second from right). Governor George W. Donaghey (1856-1937) and William Jennings Bryan toured Arkansas in a special train in September 1910, speaking for the adoption of the proposed initiative and referendum amendment to the state constitution. The five day trip, which began Tuesday, September 6, and ended September 10, covered 1,750 miles and included fifty-five speeches.
